The Breakers Swim Team participated in their first Long Course Swim Meet of the season at the Victor Davis Invitational in Guelph on January 20 and 21, 2018. The Breakers had a great meet with every swimmer achieving best times in almost all their events. In total the 11 Breakers swimmers took a whopping 7 minutes and 47 seconds off their existing times.

In a Breakers Swim Team submission, Braeden Ashton (17) broke two Breakers Club records during the weekend. Breaking his own 50 metre Breast stroke record with a new time of 33.59 seconds, placing him 12th in Ontario. Ashton also tied the 50 metre Free record with a time of 26.06 seconds ranking him 14th in the province. The record has been unreachable since it was set by Breakers member Mike Allain in 2005.

Kenzie Bourassa (10), one of the youngest Breakers on the team, attended her first long course meet and set personal best times in all her events.

Some Breakers swimmer shaved off significant time on their 400 metre Free. Braeden Ashton took off 42.38 seconds while Jayson Horseman (15) dropped a total of 1 minute and 5.13 seconds, Cameron McEwen (17) dropped a total of 23.11 seconds and Zachary McEwen (15) shaved a full 55.87 seconds.

Ryan Morley (13) also had a great meet by improving his 50 metre Breaststroke by 3 seconds, his 50 metre Back and 100 metre Breast by 6 seconds a piece. Ryan also took 17 seconds on his 50 metre Free, 16 seconds on his 100 metre Free and 50 seconds on his 200 metre Free.

Brady Phillips (13), Hannah Kent (13), Carlin Reid (18), Madison Wheeler (16), and Liam Fitzgerald (15) all had best times in several events.
