winterhawks fullThe Saugeen Shores Winterhawks have set their schedule for the 2017/18 W.O.A.A. Sr. “AA” Hockey League season.

The Winterhawks will open their 11th season on October 7 with a unique twist, taking part in Hockey Day in Kincardine festivities. The ‘Hawks will be facing off against the Ripley Wolves at the Davidson Centre at 5 p.m., to be followed by the Kincardine Bulldogs in Provincial Junior Hockey League action.

The Winterhawks will kick off their home schedule the following weekend with a pair of games.

The home opener is set for Friday, October 13 against the Huron East Centenaires, with an 8:30 p.m. start with a second home game the following night on Saturday, October 14, when the rival Mapleton-Minto 81’s visit The Plex for a 7 p.m. start.

The home schedule also includes a battle against the defending league champions Clinton Radars on December 15 as well as a rematch of last season’s playoff series against the Durham Thundercats on December 22.

Winterhawks training camp got underway on September 12 under the leadership of returning Head Coach Jim Grieve.
