winterhawks fullBrent and Jeff MacDermid each scored as the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks won their 11th game in a row on Friday night after travelling snowy roads to Wellington County to defeat the Elora Rocks, 3-1.

Brent MacDermid opened the scoring 8:46 into the 1st period, beating Elora netminder Gary Walser to make it 1-0, with Blake Underwood and Jay Thomson assisting.

Trent Hawke would make it 2-0 late in the period, scoring with 15-seconds left on the clock, with Bryan Kazarian and Theo Peckham picking up assists.

Winterhawks goaltender Blake Sinclair had extra motivation in this one, shutting the door on his former team in the 1st period to keep it 2-0 'Hawks after the 1st.

Despite peppering Walser with pucks throughout the night, it was Elora's Andrew Whalen who struck next, cutting the Winterhawks lead to 2-1 at 10:03 of the 2nd.

The Winterhawks added the younger MacDermid brother earlier in the week and Jeff MacDermid made an immediate impact, scoring his first goal in a Winterhawks uniform at 7:02 of the 3rd period.

The powerplay goal was assisted by Kazarian and Hawke, who each had two points on the night.

Sinclair would hold off the Rocks the rest of the way as the Winterhawks would dominate for the 3-1 win, outshooting Elora 59-28, with only Walser's outstanding goaltending keeping the game close.

The Winterhawks [11-1-0] will take their 11-game winning streak back home next Friday night, December 16th, when they host the Durham Thundercats [6-4-1]. Game time at The Plex is 8:30 p.m.
