winterhawks fullBrent MacDermid had a five point night, and in the process, surpassed a milestone as the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks dispatched the Lucknow Lancers on Saturday night.

The Winterhawks won their 9th game in a row as they routed the Lancers by a score of 9-1.

Michael Johnstone opened the scoring early in the 1st period, beating Lucknow goalie Ben Dorscht at 1:25 for his first goal as a Winterhawk, with Chris King and Shelby Simmons assisting.

Theo Peckham followed it up at 7:29, with MacDermid assisting for his 299th career point in a Winterhawks uniform, along with Curtis Johnston.

King would make it 3-0 Winterhawks at 11:08, with Jay Thomson picking up an assist, as well as MacDermid, for his franchise-leading 300th point.

MacDermid would make it 301 points early in the 2nd, assisting on Brett Brophy's goal to make it 4-0, with Johnston also picking up an assist.

The onslaught continued just 33 seconds later, when Johnston made it 5-0 from Brophy and Bryan Kazarian.

MacDermid continued his big night with a goal to open the 3rd period, with Thomson assisting to make it a 6-0 game 2:57 into the 3rd.

Kazarian, Thomson and Johnston would also score in the 3rd to run the Winterhawks lead to 9-0, with MacDermid adding another assist on the Thomson goal to make it a five-point night.

The Lancers would spoil Jeff Flagler's bid for a shutout with 2:34 remaining, but the 'Hawks rookie netminder picked up the 24-save win.

MacDermid's five point night puts him at a franchise-leading 303 points in a Winterhawks uniform, scoring 159 goals and adding 144 assists in just 196 regular season games.

The Winterhawks now sit at 9-1-0 on the season, tied for first place in the WOAA Sr. Hockey League with the Petrolia Squires, though the Winterhawks have played one fewer game.

After playing seven of their past eight games on the road, the Winterhawks are home on Friday December 2nd, looking to with their 10th-straight game as the Huron East Centenaires make their first trip to The Plex. Game time is 8:30 p.m.
