pic 560The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks announced the signing of former National Hockey League (NHL) defenceman Theo Peckham on Friday.

The 6'2", 240-pound player from Richmond Hill was a third round pick of the Edmonton Oilers in 2006 and played 160 games for the Oilers over six seasons.

Peckham is also an alumnus of the Owen Sound Attack, as well as Springfield Falcons, Rockford Ice Hogs and Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL.

"Any time you can add player of the calibre of Theo Peckham, it's obviously a huge addition," said General Manager Don Matheson. "We're thrilled he has chosen to continue playing in Saugeen Shores."

Peckham currently resides in Owen Sound with his wife and family.

Peckham will join his Winterhawks teammates tonight when they host the Elora Rocks at 8:30 p.m. in Port Elgin.
