coach andrew2 560The Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club (SSLC) had some excitement last week as Coach Andrew Crook of Cape Town, South Africa joined the club to assist members with their training. The international coach worked with the SSLC’s Junior, Senior and Masters programs, as well as some lucky camp participants on their lifesaving and water skills.

“It is such a great experience for our local athletes to work with someone who has competed on his level,” said Shanna Reid, Town of Saugeen Shores Aquatic Supervisor and SSLC Coach. “Coach Andrew has so much knowledge and experience to share with our club. No matter what level our participants are at, he has something to share with everyone.”

Crook, more affectionately known as Coach Andrew, has been coaching since 1995 and has competed in South Africa prior to taking on the leadership role. After coaching the National Team for South Africa for ten years, the 44 year old is now assisting Canada’s National Team at international competitions.

SSLC team members, Madison Ashton, Mclean Reid, and Mackenzie Salmon will soon have an opportunity to work with Crook again as they head to the Netherlands as part of Team Canada for the 2016 World Championships.coach andrew1 560coach andrew3 560coach andrew4 560
