The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks capped their 2015-2016 season off by inviting friends and fans to a free evening at Lakeshore Recreation May 20. The evening featured finger foods, prize give-aways and awards for the season’s top players.

Awards for the 2015-2016 season:
Jim Little Memorial Award (Rookie of the Year): Jay Thomson
Corry Solomway Memorial Award (Dedication to Hockey and the Community): Greg Thede
Most Dedicated Winterhawk: Greg Thede and Kevin McGivern
Leading Scorer (Regular Season): Brent MacDermid
Top Defenceman Award: Nick Quaid and Trevor Smith
Top Defensive Player Award: Andy Mitchell
Most Valuable Player (Playoffs): Trent Hawke
Most Valuable Player (Regular Season): Blake Underwood
Coach's Award: Curtis Johnston

The Winterhawks presented cheques to Special Olympics of Central Bruce for $815, The Women's House serving Bruce and Grey for $850, Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, part of the proceeds from this season's 50/50 ticket sales, $815; as well as $7,000 to the Liv-A-Little Foundation, proceeds from the jersey auction that took place at their Sunocos retro night, January 30.

Winterhawk fan Vi Cottrill was in attendance and won a retro Sunocos sweater. Cottrill, who celebrated her 80th birthday with the Winterhawks on December 19, is excited for the 2016-2017 season to get underway October 10.
