The Town of Saugeen Shores is getting social. The municipality has introduced corporate Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts as a tool to share information with and receive information from the public, according to a news release.

The public can now follow the Town of Saugeen Shores on social media using the handle @SaugeenShoresON. Those who previously followed the Community Services Department (@ParksRecSS) on these platforms may have already noticed the accounts beginning to transition to the more inclusive scope. The public will now see relevant content from all departments such as election updates, important dates and road closures, as well as the Parks and Recreation posts they have come to expect.

“Town-wide social media accounts will be a great tool for increasing direct two way communication between the Town and the public,” said Saugeen Shores Mayor Mike Smith. “The Community Services department has done a great job building a social media following, and expanding the scope of these accounts will help to serve the community better.”

The creation of a social media strategy is identified in the Town’s Corporate Communications Strategy. Corporate social media will support each department within the Town, with an objective to increase awareness of Town projects, services and initiatives to stakeholders.
