Walk A Mile 2017

Approximately 50 men took to the streets of Port Elgin in red heels for the 2017 event, raising over $19,000 for the Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey.

Men of Grey and Bruce are once again being asked, “Are you man enough?”

In a Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey’s (WHSBG) media release, the annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser will take place from Queen’s Bar and Grill on Sunday, May 27. Bruce County walkers will don a pair of red high heeled shoes and take the pledge to champion the end of violence against women. Registration will get underway at 12 noon with the walk commencing 1 p.m.

A Grey County event will take place in Hanover, hosted by the Hanover Rotary Club, on Saturday, June 16. Location to be announced.

All of the proceeds from the Port Elgin event will go in support of WHSBG while the Hanover event will share their proceeds equally between WHSBG and the Women’s Centre in Owen Sound.

This high-profile fundraiser has been “walking” all over North America by men who make the choice to champion the end woman abuse and sexual violence by walking the walk and talking the talk and ask friends, family, co-workers and workplaces to sponsor them through pledges. They walk for the women in their lives, they walk as individuals, or join together to make a team, but they walk to show that they are man enough to stand up against violence against women.

WHSBG is looking for community minded men who are brave enough to walk a mile in a pair of women’s red heels to bring awareness to the need to end violence against women. The shoes are supplied and it is a fun family day for all.

Registration forms and pledge sheets can be found at the WHSBG’s Are You Man Enough page or call 519-396-9814 ext. 225.
