Stake your “Cleanup Claim” for a community park, along a trail or at waterfront. As winter comes to an end and the snow starts to melt, we are left with the not so pleasant signs of spring; coffee cups, plastic bags, cigarette butts and other nasty trash.

In a Town of Saugeen Shores media release, you can help by joining the Town of Saugeen Shores and Eastlink for this year’s Spring Cleaning Week, April 21 to 28.

Throughout the week local schools, businesses, and community organizations are encouraged to register for an outdoor clean up. The Town will provide gloves and bags, and will pick up the filled trash bags afterwards. Back by popular demand for 2018, the first 150 volunteers will receive t-shirts as a thank you gift for getting involved.

Register by calling 519-832-2008 ext. 125 or online at saugeenshores.ca/register, activity number 16048.

Shortly after registering online, each group will be contacted to confirm clean up details and arrange for the pickup of supplies.

“Thank you to our local organizations and volunteers who step up to give generously of their time and energy to help keep Saugeen Shores welcoming and beautiful,” said Deputy Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “Whether it’s a group of friends, family, or co-workers, many hands will make light work of beautifying our community.”

For those who cannot commit to registering for a cleanup, the Town will also be hosting a 20 Minute Makeover on Friday, April 27 at 2 p.m. Community members are encouraged to head outside for 20 minutes and clean up the area around the residence or business.
