kristens pharmacy 560#9 In February we told you about a new pharmacy in the Subway plaza in Southampton. Kristen’s Pharmacy promised personal service and a comprehensive de—prescribing program, which to some seemed counter productive for a pharmacist.

tree lighting 560#8 Coming in at number 8, with construction underway in Coulter Parkette in November, many of you wanted to know whether the tree lighting ceremony in Port Elgin was going ahead and where it was to take place.

baby boutique 560#7 On June 26 we told you about a new store opening in Port Elgin. The second store for owners Jamie Taylor and Brandon Maddick, Baby Boutique promised everything baby from maternity to children’s clothing up to six years old.

littles furniture 560#6 On April 29 we brought you the story of a long standing Port Elgin business closing its doors. Little’s Furniture had been a fixture in Port Elgin since 1963.

river run 560#5 For the second year in a row our May 2-4 River Run story made the Hub’s Top 10. Landing at #9 in 2016, this year’s story made it to #5.

poutine 560#4 On June 17 we brought you a story about the return of the uber popular Poutinefest. Presented by the Port Elgin BIA, attendance for the inaugural 2015 event was underestimated and Poutinefest 2.0 in 2017 did not disappoint.

beach house 560#3 One of our first Saugeen Shores Council stories in 2017 was one of a new beach house project for Port Elgin’s Main Beach. The design has since been pared down from the original $1.4 million price tag.

pea pod 560#2 On March 16 we told you about The Pea Pod re-opening in downtown Port Elgin. Originally located in the Mercer House in Southampton, the vegan restaurant made the move to Port Elgin in 2017.

sastr 560#1 And finally, our most read Hub produced story of 2017 was of a new business, Stop and Smell the Roses, where customers 19 years and older can purchase industrial hemp products such as CBD. Owner Cody Coulson has since opened two new stores, one in Hanover and one in Owen Sound.
