The Chantry Island Cham-bettes have once again placed Christmas cards as a means to raise funds for the local food bank in Saugeen Shores this holiday season.

One can be found outside of Logans Men’s Wear in Southampton and the other outside of Pharmasave in Port Elgin, and anyone wishing to extend their holiday greetings to others in the community can simply go into one of the two participating businesses, make a $2 donation and be given a pen with which to sign the card.

The first known card of its kind in Saugeen Shores was placed on High Street by then 40 year Cham-bettes member, Jan Kennedy. A commemorative plaque in her honour is now attached to the Southampton card. Kennedy passed away in 2011, and for some time now residents and the Chantry Island Cham-bettes have looked forward to sharing this Southampton Christmas tradition with a Port Elgin card being added some years later by Cham-bettes member Vickie Hendry.

For a $2 donation for the Saugeen Shores Food Bank, Pharmasave will provide donors with a pen to sign the card outside of their store.
