saugeen shores logo 560The Town of Saugeen Shores will launch a Waterfront Environment Speaker Series again this year. The first topic of this free series focuses on the beach maintenance plan that guides the Town’s maintenance efforts along its 18 kilometres of waterfront.

Frank Burrows, the Town’s Parks Manager will lead a walk around at the Port Elgin Main Beach to share the “why” behind the maintenance initiatives the Town undertakes and answer questions from the public.

The first event takes place on Wednesday, July 19 at 10 a.m. at the Port Elgin Main Beach. Those interested in attending are invited to meet on the promenade by the Emmett McGrath Pavilion. No registration is required.

“This year’s speaker series is part of our ongoing efforts to create educational and learning opportunities for our residents and visitors about the waterfront,” said Burrows. “Through community partnerships we aim to offer an array of interesting topics that are relevant and impactful along our waterfront.”

Plans are underway for five other speaker topics at different locations along the waterfront. A full listing will be posted to the town’s website once dates and speakers have been finalized.

The Waterfront Environment Speaker Series is brought to you by the Town of Saugeen Shores, in partnership with the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation, Plover Lovers and the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
