saugeen shores logo 560The Town of Saugeen Shores has opened the draft Corporate Strategic Plan for comment from the public. The draft is available on the Town website as well as hard copies available at the municipal office at the Plex in Port Elgin. Feedback will be collected until July 21 by emailing strategicplan@saugeenshores.ca or dropping off written comments at the municipal office at the Plex in Port Elgin.

“Council and staff are looking for recommendations for enhancement to the Corporate Strategic Plan. The document speaks to the Town’s core values, outlines priorities and offers a comprehensive action plan for the future,” said Phil Eagleson, Fire Chief and project manager for the Strategic Plan.

The Saugeen Shores Corporate Strategic Plan articulates an actionable plan, grounded in evidence, informed through an inclusive consultation process and reflective of defined responsibility and accountability.

It defines a vision and mission, and the guiding principles that represent the core values with which staff and Council will conduct its affairs and govern the municipality. The success, or failure, of any community is largely predicated on the people who reside, work, learn and drive the community forward through day-to-day activities.

A draft of the Plan was presented to Saugeen Shores Council on June 26 by Trudy Parsons, Executive Vice-President MDB Consultants with Parsons reporting that a community survey, which was part of the community engagement process, had the highest number of responses Parsons had ever received with 829 responding.
