Saugeen Shores Mayor Mike Smith, Canada 150 Committee member and volunteer extraordinaire Connie Barker and Saugeen Shores business owner Dr. Gord MacKay were honoured with a Commemorative Canada 150 medal at a recent event in Wingham hosted by Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb.

The event, held on June 28, recognized 31 people around Huron-Bruce for their achievements in community service.

“Congratulations on receiving a Commemorative Canada 150 medal. These people are being honoured for demonstrating strength of character, care, concern and respect for your fellow human beings while giving back to your community and making our country a better place,” wrote Lobb. “Through volunteering, people become rooted in their communities, connecting to the people and places that we live. Your everyday efforts contribute to the generosity and good will that we as Canadians take pride in.”
