After a successful pilot year, the Saugeen Shores Trolley has taken on a sixth partner, the Port Elgin Tourist Association, who represents Port Elgin accommodators and manages the Wednesday Beach Flea Market.

The Port Elgin Tourist Association joins the rest of the Trolley team which includes the Port Elgin BIA, Southampton BIA, Bruce County Museum, Town of Saugeen Shores and the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce.

The SS Trolley will run seven days a week from July 2 to September 4 with two stops being added this season, an Ivings Drive stop and a Port Elgin Splash Pad stop.

Also new this year, a partnership with the Bruce County Playhouse has been struck to provide the Chamber with tour guides for the Trolley. From a May 29 Chamber update, “who better to engage our visitors and share our stories. We look forward to working with and supporting this great group as they engage our Trolley riders.”

The Chamber also gives kudos to Sam Raven of Streak Free Kerri Clean as he has volunteered to give the trolley a top to bottom spring clean before its first summer run. They also gave a shout out to the Community Services and Public Works staff for embracing the Trolley project. 

The Saugeen Shores Chamber conducted a survey and the results led to the following changes:

• The fee to ride the Trolley will be $2 this year, with children under 5 riding for free

• The Trolley will now start its loop at 10 a.m. at the new Ivings Drive stop and will still run until 7 p.m.
