A group of excited Northport Cougars released their smolts (young salmon), that they had been raising in their school’s library during the winter months, into the Saugeen River May 13.

The fish were provided by the Lake Huron Fishing Club (LHFC) and member Brian King, who assisted the students on the fish release, said that the Club will release hundreds of thousand of fish into Pike Bay, Saugeen River and Kincardine waters May 15 and 17.

The Club has over 20 schools in the area raising fish including GC Huston Public School and École Port Elgin Saugeen Central School.
