Port Elgin Main Beach will continue to host recreational activities as Family Tide Rentals scored a three-year waterfront lease after Saugeen Shores Council approved it as well as a new location for the hydrobike business November 28.

The bikes for the environmentally friendly activity will now be located in front of The Beachside Cafe (formerly known as First Base). When Family Tide Rentals was approved for a pilot project lease in June of 2016 their business took them further south, near the cement pad on the Main Beach.

Director of Community Services Jayne Jagelewski said in her report to council that she received positive feedback regarding the business that has six hydrobikes in its fleet.

Per the three year lease agreements, rental service through Family Tide Rental will resume in July and exist Sunday through Saturday until the end of August.

In addition, weekend rentals will be available in September and October

The buoyant bikes can hold up to 400 pounds and can be used by various ages. Lifejackets must be worn and are provided by Family Tide Rentals.
