Every cent from every cup of coffee sold on Camp Day, June 1, at participating Tim Hortons across Canada will go directly to the Tim Hortons Children’s Foundation’s camp program. Saugeen Shores Tim Hortons locations put great effort into the day, from in-store fundraising to organizing community volunteers to help spread the word.

Money raised on Camp Day through coffee purchases and in-store fundraising efforts will give approximately 19,000 children from low-income families across Canada the opportunity for an amazing summer camp experience.

Saugeen Shores Camp Day coordinator, Mary Halbert, who works at the Southampton location, said they've expanded store activities this year.

“We’ve sold hot dogs for $2, played Spin to Win; Jane Laurel, our supervisor in Port Elgin made quilts and pillows from all our marketing shirts. We’ve had police officers volunteering, seven Cham-bettes; Yolanda, the manager from CIBC, Councillor Dave Myette and a couple of Winterhawks,” Halbert said before she released balloons into the air to commemorate the day with her co-workers.

Special bracelets sold at the drive-thru, while pillows, hot dogs and money from in-store contests like Spin to Win, and guessing games were just some of the things Port Elgin and Southampton stores did to raise money.

“Everything’s by donation, whatever you’re willing to give - we’ll take the dime, we’ll take the nickel, we’ll take the quarter. Every cent counts,” Halbert said June 1.
