April 22 is Earth Day and to commemorate, employees of the Town of Saugeen Shores took part in a 20-Minute Makeover, picking up garbage and recyclables that littered the grounds around the Plex and Municipal office.

The “20-Minute Makeover” is just one of the activities the Town of Saugeen Shores planned during its “Spring Cleaning Week”.

Municipal staffers received points for the amount of litter they found and bonus points were awarded to anyone finding money and to the person who found the grossest item.

Employees Oscar Hernandez and Kurtis Boyce, working as a team, found over $10 and one particular used item that we won’t mention.

The week ends tomorrow, April 23 with three community group cleans:

River Access Clean-up: Hosted by Thorncrest Outfitters (Meet at Denny's Dam)

Port Elgin Beach Clean-up: Hosted by the Saugeen Shores Get Outdoors Youth Club (Meet at the Emmett McGrath Pavilion at the Port Elgin Main Beach)

Southampton Beach Clean-up: Hosted by the Southampton Residents Association (Meet at the Big Flag in Southampton)

Anyone interested in being a “pick-up artist” is asked to be at any of the above three locations at 10 a.m.

GroupTown employees were ready to embark on their 20-Minute Makeover around the Plex April 22.
