Downtown Port Elgin was all a bustle with crowds lining the streets to watch the annual Santa Claus parade Saturday.

Santa arrived in fine form on a clear & crisp evening and downtown establishments were offering beverages on the sidewalk with Chester’s serving up hot apple cider and Rabbit Dash putting warm coffee in the hands of cold spectators.

The floats were many and varied; from vintage fire trucks to Liv-a-Little Foundation’s purple dinosaur all in lights; Peter Little in his motorized recliner and Thorncrest Outfitters cruising the strip in their big canoe. From nativity scenes to dancing children; choristers singing to pipe bands marching; even The Grinch could be seen behind bars dancing to a carol or two.

And of course, closing the show was the man in red, Santa Claus himself, all the way from the North Pole with a “Ho, Ho Ho!” and “Merry Christmas!” wishes to all.
