South Bruce OPP have reported several recent incidents of Stunt Driving in recent days.
On July 6 at 8:46am during a pro-active patrol of the Grey-Bruce Line in the municipality of Arran-Elderslie, a South Bruce OPP officer and member of the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team observed a vehicle travelling at 163km/h in a posted 80km/h zone. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 22-year-old from Kitchener, was charged with speeding 50+km over the posted limit and stunt driving.
A 30-day driver's license suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment were initiated, with the driver facing a future court date.
On July 24 at 8:41pm OPP officers were again conducting pro-active patrols and observed a vehicle in Brockton travelling at 135 km/h in an 80km/h zone on Bruce Road 3. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 35-year-old from Waterloo, was charged with stunt driving and speeding 50+km over the posted limit and stunt driving.
A 30-day driver's license suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment commenced and the driver will appear in court at a future date to answer to the charges.
Again on Bruce Road 3, this time in the municipality of South Bruce and in a 60 km/h zone, a vehicle was observed travelling 116km/h. An 18-year-old from Stoney Creek was charged with stunt driving and driving more than 50km/h over the posted limit.
A 30-day driver's license suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment were initiated.
On July 26 at 3:50pm members of the C Platoon were conducting pro-active patrols along Highway 9 in the municipality of Brockton when a vehicle was observed travelling at 195km/h in a posted 80km/h zone. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 57-year-old from Gorrie was charged with stunt driving and speeding 195km/h in a posted 80km/h zone.
Impaired charges
A Hanover resident has been charged with multiple impaired operation offences following several traffic complaints in the municipality of Kincardine. South Bruce OPP officers responded to reports of a motor vehicle operating erratically on Highway 9 in Kincardine Township at around 7:30pm on July 28.
Officers located the vehicle abandoned and later found the driver, who was placed under arrest. A 21-year-old Hanover resident was charged with impaired operation by alcohol and drugs, impaired operation with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 80+, dangerous operation, two counts of operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code and failing to comply with a probation order.
The accused was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act as a young driver with a BAC above zero, using a plate not authorized for the vehicle, driving with an open container of liquor, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and failing to apply for a permit on becoming owner.
The accused was released from custody with a future court date scheduled in Walkerton. The vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days and the accused's driver's licence will remain suspended for an indefinite period.
Impaired after guardrail crash
Again in Kincardine Township, a Brampton resident has been charged with impaired operation offences after a vehicle collided with a highway guardrail.
South Bruce OPP officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 21 at around 4:44pm on July 12. While investigating the collision, officers observed signs of impairment from the driver, who was placed under arrest.
A 62-year-old Brampton resident was charged with impaired operation by alcohol and drugs, impaired operation with a BAC over 80 and dangerous operation. The accused was released from custody with a court date scheduled in Walkerton.
The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days and the accused's driver's licence was suspended for 90 days.
Impaired after collision
A Hanover resident has been charged with impaired operation offences following a two-vehicle collision in Brockton.
South Bruce OPP officers responded to a collision on Bruce Road 4 in the municipality of Brockton at 9:25pm on July 24. Two individuals were taken to hospital and later released with minor injuries. During the investigation, officers observed signs of impairment from one of the drivers, who was placed under arrest.

The accused was released from custody with a future court date scheduled in Walkerton.
