lighttheway 56098 The Beach along with the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce the second annual Light the Way Radiothon.

In a December 5 Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation media release, Thursday, December 14 has been proclaimed “Light the Way Day” by the Town of Saugeen Shores and 98 the Beach is ready to broadcast a 12-hour Radiothon, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the second year in a row.

Folks can take part by calling 519-832-GIVE (4483) or Toll Free 1-877-530-4901 on December 14 or by dropping into the radio station at 382 Goderich Street in Port Elgin.

Foundation Executive Director Sally Kidson said, “This year’s Light the Way campaign is more important than ever. The money will be used to purchase much-needed state-of-the-art equipment to enhance our newly renovated and expanded Southampton Hospital. It’s important to know that for the most part, the provincial government does not provide funds for hospital equipment.”

98 the Beach will be the site of the 12-hour Radiothon, taking pledges from local residents and businesses to help reach the Foundation’s $150,000 fundraising goal.

“Last year’s Radiothon was more successful than we imagined and it was because of people in Saugeen Shores who saw the need, believed in it, and became part of the solution,” said the station’s Operations Manager Mike Brough. “98 the Beach was honoured to be part of the event last year and look forward to taking part again on December 14.”

The Radiothon will host Foundation members, along with doctors and nurses who are on the front line and who can tell stories of how important your donation is to the cause. It is expected that some area residents will be available to share their stories as well.
