The sixth annual BarDown for Heart and Stroke Ball Hockey Tournament took place on a great day to spend outdoors, June 24 at The Pines. Organized by friends Steve Shields and former NHLer and 3HL Guelph Brewers Captain Brett MacLean, the day raised $5,310 to go towards the purchasing of new AED defibrillators in the area.

Six teams faced off against each other on the ball hockey courts at Lakeshore Recreation in Port Elgin with team All Heart And Now Hands taking the tournament in a nail biting overtime finish of 4-3 against Mickey’s Sons.

Funds for the day were also raised through a silent auction that featured a signed Wayne Gretzky jersey and Blue Jays tickets. The event kicked off on Friday June 23 with a draft party at the Wismer House.
