Saugeen Shores Council approved a new ER Physician, Dr. Andrew Jeffrey, to commence work at the Southampton Memorial Hospital October 1, 2017 for a period of 60 months, during the April 10 Council Meeting.

Following the meeting Councillor Mike Myatt who is on the committee for physician recruitment said, “We’re getting really close to having a full contingent over there at the Southampton Hospital.” Myatt went on to say recruiter Peggy Zeppieri has done a “tremendous” job.

In a April 10 media release, Jeffery agreeing to come to Saugeen Shores is thanks to combined recruitment efforts of Grey Bruce Health Services, the Town of Saugeen Shores, the Town of Kincardine and Bruce Power.

Jeffery will finish his Emergency Medicine Residency through Queen’s University in June 2017. He was born and raised on Manitoulin Island and hopes to eventually set up a family practice in the area.

“Dr. Jeffery will be a welcomed addition to the medical community in Saugeen Shores. We are very pleased to welcome him along with his partner Katy (physiotherapist) to our community,” said Town of Saugeen Shores Mayor Mike Smith said in the release.
