SNC-Lavalin has secured office space in Port Elgin and to celebrate held a ribbon cutting ceremony on October 24. The office will be home to approximately a dozen SNC-Lavalin employees.

Both local and executive SNC staff recognize the opportunity that opening shop in Saugeen Shores presents with networking as well as being close in proximity to Bruce Power.

Swafford commented on the ability to work from the local synergy created by the various engineering companies and without the need to drive the three hours into Toronto.
Swafford was quick to acknowledge Bruce Power President and CEO, Mike Rencheck’s conduct which he said “changed the dynamics, by [Rencheck’s] desire to help grow the [local] community, and we are going to be all in.”

Rencheck reciprocated suggesting “with partners like SNC-Lavalin we will be able to [provide low cost energy] for years to come.” With close to $500 million in contracts over the past five years, Rencheck said SNC is one of Bruce Power’s key partners “providing us with technologies and innovations to run our plants through to 2064.”

Saugeen Shores Mayor Mike Smith suggested this part of his job was most pleasing when he is able “to welcome people to our community,” noting this opening doesn’t happen without a whole lot of work and other things falling into place. “We welcome SNC to Saugeen Shores, we do want you to succeed,” he added.
