A treasure trove of everything baby from maternity clothes up to six years old will soon be available at Port Elgin’s new Baby Boutique, which is set to open July 1.

The Baby Boutique is the second store for Jamie Taylor and her husband Brandon Maddick in Saugeen Shores, as the duo opened SUP Boutique just down the street in 2015, a branch of their popular Sauble Beach location. “I saw a need for it in the community and I don't like to wait, I jump into things full on,” said Taylor June 26. “There was nothing like this in the area and I know myself with two young kids I travel to find used kids clothing stores and that kind of thing, so I wanted to bring something to the area to help other families and moms.”

Baby Boutique not only sells gently worn clothing but also carries trendy unworn fashion options for babies and children as well as gently worn maternity items from workwear to dresses and shorts for expectant mothers but they purchase gently used items as well. “We like clothing in good to great shape and attire that’s still somewhat in style,” said Taylor of the baby and maternity clothes. “We’re always selling, always buying.”

Taylor said the response from the community has been “amazing in the best way possible” as she has already purchased a multitude of used clothing from area mothers. The store has also teamed up with local coffee shop Rabbit Dash and will be serving coffee. “As a new mom I know the struggle is real when you're trying to get out of the house the first few weeks and months. I wanted a place for moms to come where they can feel comfortable; come grab your coffee; come meet a girlfriend; let your older kids play in the play area and if your kid blows through a diaper and you need to change the diaper you don't have to put them in their carseat and run home, you can change them here, you can nurse them here if they’re hungry.”

The former JK Motel office location, at 764 Goderich Street, has a ramp accessible for strollers and wheelchairs and has parking space on site. Baby Boutique will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Thursday to Saturday.

Taylor also said lots of fun things will be taking place July 1 for the grand opening including a free barbecue from 12 to 2 p.m. and face painting from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
