École Port Elgin Saugeen Central School’s (ÉPESCS) annual Fun Fair hit the school yard and gymnasium June 14, and raised $7,500 towards two new onsite storage sheds.

The event was organized by the school's Community Council and put to use at least 20 parent volunteers who assisted with the pre-planning, over 60 students who helped run and set up the various events, and 40 parent and teacher volunteers who helped to man the barbecue.

Inside the school students and volunteers helped create “jumbo” activities where participants purchased a $5 wrist band and played to their heart’s content.

Event Chair Barb Harris said that in the past proceeds from the Fun Fair have gone towards schoolyard improvements like the outdoor classroom, picnic tables, and repainting the surface of the black top.

Approximately 50 local businesses donated items that were used in a raffle, while each classroom put together a themed basket that was up for bid in a silent auction.
