The recent winter wonderland in Saugeen Shores has produced enough snow for another year of slipping and sliding in downtown Port Elgin for the second annual Snow Fest. The winter festival will take place on Saturday, February 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Coulter Parkette.

Staff at the Town of Saugeen Shores have been securing clean snow for the Port Elgin BIA hosted event and will begin creating a mountain of snow atop the newly refurbished Coulter Parkette on Friday, February 16. From snow painting to ball hockey on a closed Green Street to tasty smore treats, there will be lots to see and do on the Family Day long-weekend.

Also on Family Day the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre will host a full day of activities at their annual Family Heritage Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. From Irish style Celtic Ceili dances to woodworking, hand spinning to model railroading, fiddle making to old time music, there will be activities aplenty for the whole family to enjoy.

For more outdoor fun over the upcoming long weekend the Friend of MacGregor Point Park will be hosting three days of activities including the popular skating oval that will be open, weather permitting.

Families and friends of nature are invited to team up to experience MacGregor Point Survivor which includes skill testing challenges February 17 between 12 and 2 p.m.

The following day, Sunday, February 18 will call all birds of a feather to enjoy Birds of Prey, a show that grants attendees a chance to get up close to Wild Ontario’s owls, hawks and falcons.

The Friends of MacGregor will also be roasting weiners and serving hot chocolate at the park from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and on Monday, February 19, will host a Dogsled Demonstration.
