The cost of 12 new winter blankets for the horses of PRANCE (Pegasus Riding Association Nurturing Challenged Equestrians) was quickly raised February 3 when PRANCE opened up the barn doors and welcomed the community for a family friendly experience.

Louise Martin, Board President of PRANCE said the day of activities, which featured horse drawn sleigh rides, horseback rides, storytelling, and complimentary chilli and cocoa raised well beyond the $1,200 that PRANCE was hoping to raise.

The blankets can last seven to eight years and were needed this year because of the freezing temperatures that have been consistent during the season, as well as to warm-up horses that are new to PRANCE. Over 100 people attended the event which delighted Martin as she worried that the sudden snowfall overnight would hinder attendance.

Sienna, a Canadian Draft horse cross, enjoyed some time outdoors and welcomed all who attended by showing off her stylish new blanket, paid for by the day’s donations.
