Friends and family of Sisters on Huron’s Delores Sullivan took to the sidewalk on High Street in Southampton on August 6 to quench the thirst of vacationers and residents who were lucky enough to happen upon the decked out table.

In addition to “some good old fashioned summer fun,” the goal was to raise money for an Earth Rangers program aimed at helping to save bees and other pollinators. “Their summer goal was $75 and they achieved it with this event only,” said Claire Zidar-Triassi, Sullivan’s niece and the mother of three of the five children who participated in the sale.

Zidar-Triassi said when she was around the age the children are now, she and her sister held a similar sale in front of a store on Yonge Street in Toronto where her aunt Delores worked. “I had great memories of this and thought to create a tradition with our kids. No better place than in front of Sisters in Southampton,” she said.

“They did so well,” said Sullivan, adding that they “far exceeded expectations.”

In addition to lemonade, the family members and their friends served up iced tea, cookies and cupcakes. “I think the baked goods and gummysticks were such a draw,” said Sullivan.
