PP 560Sandcastle Theatre will be holding auditions for anyone ages 8 to adult, June 12, 27 and 28 for their Saugeen Shores production of Peter Pan – the Panto, which will be performed in December, 2016.

After last year’s successful presentation of Cinderella – the Panto, which involved over 30 children, teens and adults from Saugeen Shores and area, Sandcastle Theatre is excited present Peter Pan – the Panto this Christmas season with performances in Port Elgin, Owen Sound, Meaford and Collingwood. Each performance will feature a different, local cast.

Pantos – or Pantomimes – are very popular in England and are generally performed between Christmas and New Year, and are gaining popularity in other countries, including Canada.

The production will involve singing and dancing, physical comedy and jokes for all ages, plus opportunities for audience participation. Audience members will cheer for the hero and boo the villain and even get up on stage as pirate helpers.

Sandcastle Theatre’s production is loosely based on the story of Peter Pan – the boy who wouldn’t grow up. However, because it is an original script, it is possible to include local references and current events into the plot and dialogue, making each production unique.

Sandcastle Theatre was established in 2002 to offer young people in Grey and Bruce an opportunity to experience engaging theatre programs and performances.

Auditions will be held in a group format and will last approximately one hour. They will be held at Faith Lutheran Church on Sunday, June 1212, 2 to 4 p.m.; Monday, June 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, June 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. They are designed to be low pressure and fun for everyone.
