Vocal ClassThe SDSS Vocal Class performed Bless the Broken Road, California Dreamin’, and I Lived during the “Sounds of Spring Concert”, May 26.

Saugeen District Secondary School’s (SDSS) music department performed for friends and family, at their “Sounds of Spring” concert, May 26.

The school’s Director of Music, Kerrie Lynn Boys conducted all performances from the Senior Band, Brass Ensemble to the musical stylings of the Vocal Class.

Principal Melissa McEwan told the crowd before the performance they were in for a “special treat”.

“The talent of the youth here at Saugeen District is exemplary, I want to take a moment to brag,” McEwan said while asking if the audience knew how well the Senior Concert Band did at a recent competition. “How many of you knew that our Senior Concert Band was the recipient of Gold at MusicFest? What an accomplishment and a reason to celebrate.”

McEwan went on to thank Boys for her “tireless efforts” and “commitment to her students” and also took the opportunity to thank parents and families for their support as well.

Jake BoltonStudent Jake Bolton serenaded the crowd with “Sweet Home Chicago” with accompaniment from his Royals Big Band bandmates, May 26 at SDSS.

RowleySaxophonist Ben Rowley had a few solos during SDSS’s “Sounds of Spring" concert, May 26.

BoysDirector of Music and conductor, Kerrie Lynn Boys had a busy night at the “Sounds of Spring” concert at SDSS, May 26.
