Hundreds of Northport scallywags and their families made the school’s Pirate Night, May 26, a triumphant success. The event helped to raise money for the school’s grade 8 class and their senior trip to Ottawa.

The senior pirates set up creative games throughout the school, with Shelby Sparks explaining that her “Fish Pond” activity would be a fan favourite. “Everyone’s going to come here because we have the treasure,” Sparks said. True to pirate form, there was a line-up around the hall for the treasure.

Northport Principal, Bill Colley was in charge of the barbecue but made time to make themed announcements throughout the evening.

“Everybody dressed up all day and then came tonight, and we have pirate grub and pirate games,” said Colley, later adding, “we’re going to have 500 people here... the parents and the kids are dressed up and everyone is taking part and that’s what it’s all about.”

Huxley Ebenstreit played a mixture of hockey and pirate golf, during one of the many activities throughout the school.
