For the fourth year, Bruce County Public Library will take part in ‘Seedy Saturday’, a seed exchange that happens across Canada in early spring in celebration of the upcoming gardening season. This year’s event will take place April 9.

Gardeners of all ages are invited to bring in their saved or extra seeds and exchange them with seeds from fellow gardening enthusiasts.

In Saugeen Shores, Seedy Saturday will take place at the Southampton Branch Library during open hours, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition, the Port Elgin Branch Library is hosting gardening events, including displays from the Horticulture class at Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS), the National Farmers Union seed safety project and a children’s seed house activity. At 1 p.m. Master Gardener, Jackie Campbell will be on hand with a presentation, “What all gardeners need to know”, followed by a question and answer session.

Both the Southampton and Port Elgin branch have gardening-related resources, available to borrow with a Bruce County Public Library card as well as free online resources available at www.library.brucecounty.on.ca.
