Map of southwestern Ontario showing the Saugeen Watershed

Hub Staff

Saugeen Conservation issued a Flood Outlook Monday (Mar 10, 2025) due to the continuation of unseasonably warm temperatures and the possibility of rain.

Recent warm temperatures andrain fall began the melting of the snowpack and weakened river ice resulting in saturated ground conditions and elevated water levels throughout the Saugeen Watershed.

With temperatures expected to reach a daytime high of 17°C and 18°C on Friday and Saturday and 10mm of rain expected March 15, these conditions are forecast to continue, further increasing water levels and further weakening river ice.

Widespread flooding is not anticipated at this time however fast flowing water and flooding in low-lying areas, floodplains, and areas with poor drainage may be possible.

All ice should be considered unsafe and with water levels expected to remain elevated and water temperatures still cold, the public is reminded to stay away from all watercourses and structures such as bridges, culverts, and dams.

Municipal and County staff are asked to monitor the situation through to March 17, 2025, unless otherwise notified.

Saugeen Watershed municipalities include: Arran-Elderslie, Brockton, Chatsworth, Grey Highlands, Hanover, Howick, Morris-Turnberry, South Bruce, Huron-Kinloss, Kincardine, Minto, Wellington-North, Saugeen Shores, Southgate, West Grey.
