A crowd of over 60 people looking for a deal on two wheels attended the Saugeen Shores Police Services annual Bike Auction May 27. From mountain bikes to cruisers, Auctioneer Les Ribey got those in attendance bidding on stolen and unclaimed bikes that officers had acquired around Saugeen Shores throughout the year.

Sergeant Andy Evans remarked that over the years the number of bicycles has dwindled - and that was a good thing - from 90 a few years ago to 43 at the May 27 auction. Evans said the majority of bikes has always been mountain bikes with a few other items up for grabs this year including a golf set.

Funds raised will help off-set police equipment costs as directed by the board.

Approximately 43 bikes that have remained unclaimed were auctioned at the annual Bike Auction. Many of the bikes are presumed stolen and had been left at various locations around Saugeen Shores.

Krissy Edwards was happy that her winning bid of $45 dollars earned her a mountain bike at the Saugeen Shores Police Services Bike Auction May 27.
