“Summon the Magic”, a book written by Emily Little, a Grade 6 student from Northport Elementary School was one of two books selected in the Ripple Foundation’s 2016-17 Kids Write 4 Kids creative challenge.

The contest was created to encourage kids to read and write and participants were rated on creativity and originality, story structure and the quality of writing.

From ripplepublishing.ca, “Our sense of self, creativity and ambition grow from the support we receive during our youth. By providing youth with opportunities to share their stories we hope to help build a generation of adults that love to read and write.”

Out of 10 finalists from young authors from Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick and Manitoba, “Summon the Magic” by Little and “How To Be An Abbott” by Olivia Simms, a Grade 8 student from Glashan Public School in Oshawa were selected.

The two books will be published in print and digital and made available this summer at Amazon, Apple iBooks and Kobo with proceeds from all Kids Write 4 Kids sold in 2017 being donated to Northport Elementary School and Glashan Public School.
